The latest installment in the Predator franchise, Badlands, is now available for digital rental or purchase on platforms like Prime Video and Apple TV as of January 6th. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, known for his work on Prey and the Predator: Killer of Killers animated anthology, this film offers a fresh perspective by focusing on a young Yautja warrior outcast named Dek and his alliance with a Weyland-Yutani android, Thia, in a deadly hunt on a hostile alien planet.
For physical media enthusiasts, Predator: Badlands will launch on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on February 17th. Consumers can choose between a standard edition and a limited edition Steelbook with exclusive artwork. While there’s no confirmed streaming release date for Hulu or Disney+ yet, it is expected to follow shortly after the Blu-ray launch.
Despite being touted by Disney as the “highest-grossing entry” in the franchise’s 38-year history, with a $184 million worldwide box office against a $105 million budget, the film’s profitability remains uncertain when factoring in marketing and distribution costs.
Predator: Badlands distinguishes itself by centering the narrative around the Predator itself, offering audiences a deeper look into Yautja culture and origins. The 4K UHD Steelbook edition is packed with bonus features, including behind-the-scenes featurettes on creature design (“Embodying the Predator”), android character development (“Authentic Synthetics”), world-building (“Building the Badlands”), and extended insights into Yautja society (“Dek of the Yautja”).
Digital copies of Predator: Badlands are available now on platforms such as Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home. The 4K Blu-ray is currently available for pre-order at Amazon and Walmart.
